After completing his undergraduate education, Arnett pursued a legal career by attending Northern Kentucky University’s Salmon P. Chase College of Law. Following the completion of his Juris Doctor degree, he entered the legal profession in 1989.

Two years later, he established his own law firm in Salyersville, Kentucky. What began as a local practice eventually developed into one of the state’s respected full-service law firms.

A key chapter in his professional development occurred during his tenure as Magoffin County Attorney from 1994 through 1999. During those years, he achieved a 95 percent conviction rate in DUI prosecutions. He also contributed to the prosecution team responsible for securing the largest drug conviction in county history.
